A Gift Guide for Your Friend with Taste.
But also, basically just a list of what I would want.
I love a subscription gift. I was just talking to a friend about how nice it is to connect with someone over something tangible. Logan is subscribed to Architectural Digest (Gifted from me last year) and I to Vogue. Sitting on the couch and looking through something you can hold together once a month is so nice. The Paris Review is another great option for print.
I recently searched for the Vogue subscription from the month and year of the day I was born and it did not disappoint. Frame theirs! That would be such a kind and heartfelt gift for anyone who appreciates print.
Something hand written or sentimental and small like this little painting we bought in Portugal. It can last a lifetime truly and end up being the most valuable gift they get. They can frame it with a wide mat and keep it forever.
I don’t know how you feel but I myself really appreciate a second hand gift. I love them actually. You get someone you love something of higher quality at a better price. Consider a pair of Ray-Bans for $60 from The RealReal? Classic. These are also Ray Ban if you can believe it. Or.. A film camera would make a fantastic gift that never stops giving. Here is the one I currently have on ebay for $59. But I would love the Contax T2.
I love to be cozy. A few things that come to mind that I would love to receive that fall under that category are: Cashmere. Everything by Extreme Cashmere is so stunning. This giant scarf, the N150 Witch is so good. Such a versatile gift. So many ways to wear. You can also find cashmere for amazing prices on Quince or J. Crew.
I would love a pair of socks from Guest in Residence. Or pajamas from Cozyland. You will never take them off I am so serious. But they need to be the cotton version (the Ellie). Or these Suzi Kondi pants are the best for at home or an airport vibe. Tekla robes look phenomenal and I am drawn to this magenta option for some reason. Pajamas and robes should be fun colors and patterns in my mind.
A bit niche but.. tea lover?? A glass and wood teapot is gifting someone calm aura. Its functional, its decoration, its a peaceful gift and its forever.
Shoe Lover: I would love a pair of Onitsuka Tigers, a super fun pair of clogs or another pair of Salomon’s right now.
Holiday Parties? Something to bring in hand for the non drinker or….mix with alcohol lol - Figlia is so so good and has a bit of a bite. Or gift the host the Furtuna LXR — the gift of health and beautiful skin. OR the Bona Furtuna Panettone in blood orange and EVOO which we now plan to make a little Christmas tradition. It is that good. Maybe even a Flamingo Estate candle or Le Labo’s new candle if you want to get extra.
If they’re a Beauty lover: Clearly this is my niche lol. Beauty is personal. However, there are a few items in mind that are substantial, gorgeous and universal that would make for amazing gifts.
Beautiful and functional is the best combination. This Chanel Eau de Toilette Purse Spray is exactly that. It has been attached to my bag since I received it.
Another one thats beautiful and functional: This wooden hair comb by Roz Hair. I also put the Schiaparelli hair pin in the first image for fun but I actually cannot find it for sale. But how nice is it to look at.
The Furtuna Skin Face and Eye Serum would light up my eyes if I found it under the tree. The Fara Homidi Face Compact is the most heavy, beautiful and functional beauty gift. Or Fara’s Red Lip Compact? Both the packaging and the product are top tier. The U Beauty Super Intensive Face Oil is lux. The Westman Atelier Contour stick also never disappoints.
The Kate McLeod Bath Pebbles are like gifting someone peace. The scent is called breathe — its mainly eucalyptus and I’ll say they named it perfectly. You can use them in the shower if you don’t have a bath! Their moisturizing stones are also great.
The Crown Affair Style to go kit and the Roz Holiday sets are amazing this year.
A Chanel nail polish is a perfect under $50 present that can be wrapped for free. I love the color Rouge Noir.
The Pat McGrath Mothership Palettes or a Chanel single shadow.
La Bouche brushes are some of the softest and most beautiful makeup brushes I have seen or tried. Here is such a cute set.
Really really good stocking stuffers? The Skims boyshorts. I want 50 pairs because they are the only thing I want to actually sleep in. They feel like you’re wearing a cloud or even better like you’re wearing nothing. Thank you to miss Jordyn Leib for the rec. Im forever indebted.
If you reaaaally like practical throw in the Salt and Stone deodorant. Neroli and Basil is my fav scent.
I love gifts that turn into everyday use or wear. The one ring I wear nonstop is a plain gold band. It actually would be so sentimental to me to receive a plain gold band as a gift. Here is one that looks almost identical and at a good price. Another would be a Mason Pearson brush which I still am dying to get my hands on. So $$ for a brush. It would need to be a gift.
Or a functional pair of leather gloves like these from Calvin Klein.
For the creative — I just got a Moleskin journal and am so obsessed with it already. Softcover is a must in my opinion. I have the pocket sized!
I also love the idea of gifting a piece of art from Etsy. But this is too personal to link. You can find amazing pieces at affordable prices! One of my favorite recent TikTok follows, Talia Mayden, shares what key words to use to find the best.
AND A KINDLE. I swore I would only read “real books” for the longest time. As soon as I got gifted a kindle everything changed. I lost mine for a week and it was the longest week of my life. Immediately repurchased. I love her. If I really love the book I buy the physical copy to keep in our bookshelf to satisfy the tangible aspect.
I hope you have the best holidays! Gift giving can be so so fun but as miss PigMami (Heather Hurst) put it “Don’t Fret. Just let people know you love them”
Xx
I’ve been eyeing on the Chanel eyeshadows and the green one look absolutely gorgeous on you I saw the ig reel ❣️❣️
Great list. If you love the Paris Review you should check out the Apartamento magazines as well :)?
